About Us

Jyothidarsana Institute for Counseling & Mental Health is a unique project of the Carmelites of Mary Immaculate (CMI) Congregation founded by St. Kuriakose Elias Chavara, a great visionary and social reformer of India. Taking inspiration from his life and mission, we try to provide compassionate and comprehensive mental health services to individuals, families, alcoholics, teenagers and children who are psychologically and emotionally challenged.

The counseling centre was started at Thodupuzha, Kerala, India on November 28, 1993. In 2008, Jyothidarsana was moved to Pulluvazhy, Perumbavoor and the construction for the new campus was started. The new campus of Jyothidarsana Counseling Centre was inaugurated on April 12, 2012. At present the Institute functions in a spacious campus with a serene environment and includes a well-equipped library with over 3,000 books specializing in counseling, mental health and psychology. Well furnished classes rooms, conference halls, counseling and therapy rooms make Jyothidarsana truly a place of excellence and learning.
